Summary
DOOR is dedicated to providing a positive experience for everyone. Anyone violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the event, without a refund, at the discretion of the DOOR Council.
Policy
This document covers unacceptable behavior whether within or outside the law. Unacceptable behavior includes:
If you are being subjected to unacceptable behavior, notice that someone else is being subjected to unacceptable behavior, or have any other concerns, please first consider informing the person or persons responsible that you would like them to stop. You may also wish to notify a DOOR Council member. Often the offending behavior is unintentional and those involved will resolve the incident amicably.
If you believe that bringing up the incident with the person involved may have negative consequences for you or others, or could lead to further unacceptable behavior, then please inform a Council member about the incident.
Reporting
We value participation in our event and appreciate all efforts to provide a safe and friendly space for everyone. If unacceptable behavior persists, even after the person involved has been asked to stop, the behavior should be reported promptly to a member of the DOOR Council. The report should be made by the recipient of the unacceptable behavior and/or a direct witness.
When taking a personal report, the Council member will ensure safety and discretion. To ensure that the report is managed properly, all DOOR Council members will be apprised of the situation. Reports will be handled as respectfully and discreetly as possible but may, under some circumstances, be required by law to be disclosed.
If requested, the Council will help the person reporting the incident to contact the police or local support services where appropriate. Also, we will endeavor to provide escorts to people who are concerned about their safety.
Enforcement
If anyone is asked to cease unacceptable behavior, it is expected that they will comply immediately. If unacceptable behavior occurs, DOOR Council members will take any actions reasonably necessary to maintain a welcoming environment for all participants. This may include warning the person who is acting in breach of this policy, asking the person violating this policy to leave the event or activity, or – in appropriate cases – requiring the person to leave the event without a refund, with the possible imposition of sanctions for future events.

In addition to the potential for “photo harassment” noted above, the following policies also apply to photography at the event:

Photography Policy
In addition to the potential for “photo harassment” noted above, the following policies also apply to photography at the event:
- Anyone not wanting their photo taken while at DOOR should self-identify to registration staff at chick-in, or as soon as possible thereafter. You will be issued a ribbon to identify you as not wanting to be photographed.
- Anyone taking photos must ensure that no one wearing a ribbon is in the field of view. The burden of proof is on the photographer, not the subject(s) of the photo.
- Photos of the event may be shared within the private DOOR Facebook group, subject to the ribbon exclusion. All other use of event photos requires the explicit consent of all persons in the photo.
- Only DOOR Council members or other DOOR staff may take photos during rituals. Photos would be taken from outside the circle in an unobtrusive manner and will exclude ribbon wearers.
- Unless wearing a ribbon, each DOOR attendee is granting express permission for DOOR to use their likeness in promotional materials without compensation.
